Worlds Finals Coverage!

BBC are broadcasting the worlds finals from the 11th to the 16th, so I will have coverage of it. If your confused, hold on!


I will be posting all the action that's happening from the coverage on facebook.
So, You will need to have facebook to hear all the action. Secondly, all the coverage will be written on the World Gymnast News page (Ksenia Semenova), so you'll need to like it too see what's going on.


Here is the schedule;


Tuesday- It's ladies night. The Top 8 Women teams battle it out to see who will be crowned wordl team champions. Look out for high-flyers America and last years winner's Russia.
Coverage begins at 7 o'clock British time.


Wednesday- The guys show how it's done with their top 8 also fighting it out for the world team champions title. It's a 6 o'clock start


Thursday- All-around for girls. Unfortunately, I can't follow this one but it start's at 6.


Friday- I can follow this one. It's the exciting Men's AA competition. Johnathan Horton, Kohei Uchimura etc. all likely to be in this one. 7 o'clock start.


Saturday- The events. VT and UB for WAG and FX, PH and SR for MAG. Half past one is the start of this one


Sunday- The other events. 2 o'clock is the time

Izbasa Out!?

Olympic Champion Sandra Izbasa is out of the world championship after suffering foot pains. The Romanian team + delegation left on Friday without Izbasa.


Romania have replaced her with Daniela Andrei but she definitely won't be able to contest like Izbasa. Octavian Belu said ''we don't want to push her, she was in pain''. 


The official start list for the Romanian team is: Chelaru, Haidu, Ponor, Porgras, Andrei and Racea leaving Bulimar as the reserve ?

Potiental Final/Medalists?

Coming to the Worlds, I have been assessing and looking at the potential and great gymnasts that could rise to victory (sort of been watching). Here are the people you need to look for;

Jordyn Wieber

This new girl has popped up into the scene. Her first major win was when she was 13 at the Tyson American cup. She's been in the national training sqaud since '06 (since she was 11). Wieber has got some big tricks in the locker, she just needs to pull them out consistently and she'll be first place.

Anna Li

Collegiate gymnast, aged 22. She's not the all-around package but the reason I've selected her is because her bars is amazing. At the VISA's, she had the highest start score, so she can bring a lot to the table for the American camp.

Elisabeth Seitz

We just want her to hit. Bars is where she excels. She's got a def and a full twisting shapo! She can work well with AA as she showed at the Europeans in Berlin. Vault is also another 'Good' event as she has two vaults but It's going to be pretty hard for her too challenge for a finals spot.

Giulia Steingruber

Switzerland's new gymnast. When Kaeslin packed her bags, Giulia was the girl who stepped. We've seen throughout previous meet's that she has more heavier work than other's but she is quite good on the legs and execution side of it. Vault is her main strength. Euro finalist. Bars is good one for her for me, I feel. The heavy work looks quite good. Floor isn't the best place but she could still make top 24.

Brazil!

This up-coming nation is definitely up-coming. They have a lot of strong and powerful team members. 3 bring a lot of experience to the table, they are, Jade Barbosa, Daiane Dos Santos and Daniele Hypolito. Adrian Gomez is another good gymnast. Watch out for Jade in the vault and Daiane in floor. If Daiane is in full strength, she will jump out the square 2 times (likely!)

JLO

Not forgetting Venezuelan Veteran Jessica Lopez. Last quad, she managed to get into the top 12 but she has set each routine to 16+ difficulty scores, giving her a more likelier pass to the top 6.

Sorry everyone, I've been away for the weekend so couldn't cover the Gymnastics worlds news. In this bulletin, We've got lot's of news. GB Squad, Salamun Memorial Results  & The Yokohama Junior.

I'll start Salumun. It was a mixed field. But Israel where the overall medal winners.

Vault.

2.10 seperating 1st from last, so quite an easy one. Valeriia Maksyuta went on to be the eventual vault champion with a great 14.125. Way below in 2nd with 12.875 was Teja Belak and third went to Orsolya Nagy. Moving from the medals, Thelma Hermansdottir was 4th. Jasmin Mader was 5th then Dina Madir followed closely by Norwegian Madeline Larsen and Icelandic Agnes Suto.

Bars.

Another good round for Valeriia but It was Kristyna Palesova who won. But, Val did show us her double front full dismount !! (Much Love). That Crazy Croatian Leotard (Freak?) Tina Erceg was the bronze medalist. Looking down the execution sides, the highest was 8.250. I'm scared. 6.25 was posted by Laura Gombas though.

Beam

From 5th to 1st, Vasiliki managed to take 5th and take it to gold. 14.00 was a great score for beam but close second Maksyuta (13.950) just couldn't catch her. Veteran Adela Sajn showed that age is just a number proving the that the 23+'s can make their stand, look @ Chuso go!!

Floor

Israel's medal streak was closed of well but not by Val. Nope, Roni did the job with a 13.60 and funky music, she was the title taker. Croatia with second and Sajn bronzed, they couldn't get to Israel.

Hello Gymnasts,


We have a treat for you as we have got a lot of news this week. 3 Worlds team announcements but let's start with the GBR vs. ROM International Friendly!


Well, Great Britain came out on top :D by 1 point or so. In the All-around final, Hannah Whelan once again to another All-around medal followed by Amelia Racea and Ana Porgas. Vault Final winner was Raluca Oana Haidu after Beth Tweddle performed a 15.325 set taking gold home, Ana Porgras Beam winner with an amazing 15.250 and Beth rounded up the medals with 14.95 on floor.


Coming to the American Gymnastics Team for Worlds, The announcement of the Participants will be selected either tomorrow or Thursday, so you've just got to be a little patient!


Over to the Southern American Games and Peryera. The Argentinian Junior Youth Team won the Team Final 1.60 points ahead of Brazil. But Argentina picked up another medal coming from Valeria Peyrera. She won it with an amazing 56.1, which also included 14,05 and 14,35. Two Brazilians Lorrane Santos and Mariana Oliviera came 2,3. Here is what the top 12 looked like;

Dutch Girls Top Spain & Belgium

Yesterday, The Dutch Women's Gymnastics team managed to stop the recent tri-meet winning streak on Spain, defeating Spain and Belgium. 2011 National Champ Celine Van Gerner gave Netherlands a home victory. Netherlands scored an impressive 221.35, which is an improvement from their last meet against Poland at home. 


In the all-around side, It was Celine Van Gerner that was the eventual winner but not far behind was compatriot Marlies Rijken (55.75) and below her was Spanish National Champion Ana Izurieta.


Belgium didn't have an amazing meet with their highest placing all-arounder was Lisa Verschueren  
who was 7th. Veteran Aagje Van Wellegham,who has been injured, managed to pull out a 9th place finish, all-around. 

Catching Up..

France met up with Italy in yet another FRIENDLY on the 10th September. I am sorry I couldn't cover the match earlier because I have had some computer problems but I am back now. 


Team standings France beat Italy by 2.0 whole points. If you skip to the AA, France still dominated the gold with Marine Brevet taking the title. But Italy came 2,3 with Emily Armi and First year senior Chiara Gandolfi. Glad to see Youna back in the came for France, she only managed 13th but only competed Bars (14.0) and Beam (13.9). No Ferrari? Not sure where she's gone! 


A comp that wasn't a friendly was the Vitali Scherbo Cup. Belarus had the most participants. Hell Yeah!


Individ. Final: It was Valeriia Maksyuta who won! She only got 1,00 deduction on her Vault (5.8) Previous Olympian Marachkouskaya made the all-around and finished 2nd. Her highest score coming from vault (well what did you expect?) Gabriela Janik, a former World athlete, took the bronze.

ROMANIA SQUAD!

In a final preparation for Tokyo, the Romanian Federation announces the team going to compete against Great Britain in an International Friendly. The stakes are high at the Worlds as the first 8 teams in Qualifying day 1 & day 2 (I think?) will be handed those all important tickets to London 2012. 


The final start list is; Amelia Racea, Diana Maria Chelaru, Diana Bulimar, Raluca Haidu, Sandra Izbasa, Ana Porgras and the alternate is Daniela Andrei. 


If your wondering where Catalina Ponor is announced to be complicated by the by the current status of two expected members of the team, so she was there with Marian Dragulescu

Commonwealths EF's!

Sorry pepz! My internet wasn't working great so I haven't had time to do the Event final results of the Commonwealths in Douglas, Isle Of Man!


The Vault! There is only the medalist on this sheet so here they are;

Sunday Compilation

We welcome you to the Sunday compilation;


Switzerland's Giulia Steingruber is this week's Gymnast of the Week! :) The reason being is that Steingruber recently won the all-around at Swiss Nats but not only that she won all 4 event finals in addition. That is an achievement to be proud of don't you think!! She went to this years Europeans and made Vault and All-Around Finals. In the AA, she did a solid performance all-around with team-mate Ariella Kaeslin, but Vault finals didn't go to plan. The first vault she fell and was not very happy as you wouldn't be happy but secondly she only performed a full tsuk but I'm sure she can do 1 1/2 to 2 twists. She is very likely to have made the Tokyo Worlds team for Switzerland but after big team player Ariella Kaslin left the scene, the Swiss camp's chances of sending a team/individual to the 2012 Olympics will be slowly falling down hill


In other news,


Angel Romaeo takes AA gold, Romania win Pre-Worlds comp but let's move too Hungarian competitor Austin Lee Sheppard.


Many of you might not of heard of her, But she is American born. In a recent interview with IG Magazine she says she is capable to be up there with some of the big names. At last weeks Ghent World Meeting, she didn't have an amazing competition as she stated but managed to qualify 6th for Vault finals. But, having trouble with her DTY's she and her coach Yevgeny Indyukov decided she should pull out, not having to risk missing the worlds with Injury, handing her final place too team mate Dorina Boczogo. She also said that Ghent has provided her with perspective and confidence going into the Worlds. 


Now to the Youth Commonweaths. After the English success in the Team final, Wales took revenge as Angel Romaeo took the all-around gold. With great performances, all of which in the 13's, her round was pretty unbeatable. She was followed by Kiwi Brittany Robertson and England's Abigail Caig. Abi put in 3 scores in 13.8 but it was her bars that let her down, where she only got 11.05, otherwise she would have been in top position. Today is the Event Finals, where some of the big names, will battle it out to be crowned individual event winners.


Finally, Switzerland, Romania and Germany all went together in a friendly meet in aid and preparation for the 2011 Worlds. Romania were the eventual winners 5.15 points ahead of hosts  Germany! In the individual side of things, Romania still were winners after Ana Porgras stormed to victory ahead of Amelia Racea, Diana Bulimar and Raluca Haidu. Nadine Jarosch separated the Romanian's but not for long as Dana Andrei crept behind. Giulia Steingruber was the 8th place finisher and the highest ranked for Switzerland in that event. Catalina Ponor was 15th. 14.55, 14.65 and 14.30 for Vault, Beam and Floor.
